Hi Everyone
Welcome to this edition of Cols-A-To-Z.
I have had a frustrating couple of weeks. I've only had an
internet connection for seven of them. Not seven consecutive
days, just bits and pieces here and there that total seven days.
An internet marketer without an internet connection is like a
fishing trawler without a net!
So...
I've decided to stop banging my head against brick walls and move
to England where I can make full use of a broadband connection.
Exciting stuff for somebody who is used to a sometimes 56k
internet connection.
But I have left this decision far too late. Just recently there
has been a major increase in the number of people leaving
Zimbabwe, which means that there is a glut of personal possessions
for sale and this has driven prices down.
Even after selling everything I own, I'm leaving with very little
money.
Scary stuff.
But good for all my subscribers because now you are really going
to find out what works and what doesn't.
I have three to four months in which to build an income from my
online marketing efforts - and I don't intend to get a job to
supplement my income.
This is going to be a very interesting challenge.
Until the next time...
Featured Physical Fitness Article - Faster Fat Loss That's Healthy - By Greg Landry, M.S.
I received a telephone call from a lady last week. Her first word
was "heeeelp"! She was on a weight loss program and only losing
about one half pound per week. She wanted to speed things up but
didn't want to do anything that was unhealthy.
Here's what I told her:
If you're interested in losing fat, you're objective is to create
a daily caloric deficit. For example, If you're consuming 1700
calories per day, and expending 2000 calories per day, your
caloric deficit is 300 calories.
So, if you'd like to increase your daily caloric deficit, you
have two options; to decrease your caloric intake by eating fewer
calories, or increase your caloric expenditure via more activity /
exercise.
However, you cannot decrease your daily caloric intake much lower
than 1200 to 1500 or so without potentially creating health and
metabolism problems. So, the remaining factor in the deficit
equation is caloric expenditure through increased activity /
exercise.
The good news is that you can substantially increase your caloric
expenditure. For example, if you're exercising for 30 minutes
three days per week, over a period of several weeks you can
increase your exercise to 60 to 90 minutes per day, six to seven
days per week. An example of this would be 60 minutes of aerobic
exercise, six to seven days per week and 30 minutes of weight
training three days per week.
So, in this example, you would increase your monthly exercise
minutes from about 360 to 1800. Plus, in addition to the calories
that you're expending during exercise, you would also
substantially increase the number of calories you're burning 24
hours-a-day, yes, you'll even burn more calories while you're
sleeping. You can't beat that, can you?
So, if you want to speed-up your fat loss, here's your game plan:
- Tone your muscles with weight training three days per week.
Toned muscles supercharge your metabolism! This should be done
just after your aerobic exercise session.
- Do some type of aerobic exercise (walking, jogging, swimming,
stationary cycling, aerobic dancing, etc.) on a DAILY basis
(preferably in the morning) for 30 to 60 minutes! Note: If you
haven't been exercising, be sure to gradually increase your
exercise time. See my article on morning exercsie..
Send email to:
- When you can, do an additional 15 to 30 minutes of less
intense aerobic exercise in the evening. Some people like to do
this just before their dinner meal to decrease their appetite,
but after dinner is fine too. This can be as simple as a stroll
around your neighborhood.
In the interest of injury prevention and not getting bored with
your exercise, try to alternate the type of exercise you do. For
example, walking in the morning and aerobic dance in the evening.
- Incorporate "intervals" into most of your aerobic sessions.
Intervals are a powerful tool to help boost your metabolism.
They are explained in detail in my article, "Intervals for Weight
Loss"... Send email to:
- Develop a more active lifestyle. Look for the "hard" way to do
things - the way that requires the most energy expenditure. To be
successful at losing weight and keeping it off, you have to
become an "active person"!
- Train for a local 5k or 10k walk or run in your area or set
higher goals and train to walk or run a marathon. This can be
great motivation to exercise on a regular basis.
Many of the people that are most successful at weight loss have
a specific goal of participating in some type of race. Remember,
achieving the goal is not in winning the race but in preparing
for the race and participating!
I've seen many people transformed from couch potatoes to lean,
mean exercising machines, because they decided to enter and train
for a competition. Don't think you can't do it... YOU CAN! See
these activity event resources:
http://www.Active.com
http://www.BeThePeople.com
http://www.MarathonGuide.com
Caution: Always make gradual changes in the intensty and duration
of your exercise sessions.
Put this plan into action and you'll like the results - you'll
look better, feel better, have less body fat and more muscle tone!
Get movin'!

Featured Success Article - All You Want is Within Your Reach - By Chris Widener
If there is one thing that I believe with all my heart it is that
you can have any life you choose to. You can live the life you
have always dreamed of.
We live in a period of unparalleled opportunity in human history.
Think about it: Just one hundred years ago, most people really
only had five or six options when it came to deciding what they
would do with their lives. For most, they didn't even have the
knowledge that they could do anything other than take over their
father's farm when they turned eighteen!
But today a person living in the western world (and many other
areas of the world as well) can choose to do virtually anything
they want to! They key is the word "choose."
You see, the world is within your reach. Any job you want can be
yours if you decide. All of the opportunities are there for the
taking. The question is whether or not you will take.
You say, "But Chris, you just don't understand. I'm thirty-eight
years old with two kids and I have bills to pay. I make $28,000 a
year. I can't just go become a doctor and make big money!"
And I say, "Yes you can! If you decide to. If you will take action
you can become a doctor or anything else you want to. We live in a
day and age when virtually anything is possible."
For the sake of highlighting this principle, let's look at the
above example. How would this person change careers? Simple. Here
is the process in specific action steps:
Find out from a medical school what classes you would need to take
to get in. Chances are your college major would need some rounding
out or if you didn't go to college, you would need to do so.
Maximum time to do this: 3 days.
Now, go to school. Maximum time to do this: 4 years.
Now, medical school and residency. Maximum time to do this: 6
years.
Begin practicing medicine. At this point you would be forty-eight years old. That leaves you
seventeen years to practice. Now let's see the impact it has on
your life:
You get to pursue your dream, making you and your family MUCH
happier.
You will make, on average, $100,000 more per year. The difference
here is manifold! If you stayed where you were, you would have
earned $28,000 a year for twenty-seven years and would earn
$756,000. If you left and pursued your dream you would earn
$128,000 for seventeen years (That's if you took ten years to
make the transition. Most would be less.) and you earnings would
be $2,176,000! This is a difference of $1,420,000! And this
doesn't even take into consideration the amounts you would earn
on investments on the difference in incomes.
So is it possible? Yes. Does it take time? Yes. Is it hard? Yes.
Is it scary? Yes, and that is why most people won't do it.
It isn't for lack of opportunity. It is usually because of one of
the following:
- Lack of vision.
- Lack of tenacity.
- Fear.
The truth is that you can do anything you want to. Stop telling
yourself excuses! Go to battle against a lack of vision! Pick
yourself up and get tenacious! Look fear in the face and stand
up to it! Your whole life depends on it, my friend! The choice
is yours. Will you continue to limp along in life because you
don't have the courage to run for your dream? Will you continue
to allow the fear of poverty keep you from pursuing the riches,
both materially and emotionally, that lay within the vision you
have of what your life could be?
You CAN live the life you have always dreamed of. All you want is
within your reach. But to pick it up, you must first empty your
hands of what they already hold. Then you must reach for it, take
a hold of it, and possess it!

Featured Online Marketing Article - Off Line Marketing for On Line Results - By Will Dylan
So you’re all “Googled” out, are you? You’ve been working
feverishly placing e-zine ads, paying for placement and position
with search engines, buying online classifieds, and trying to
optimize search engine rankings for your website.
All of that effort and money may be paying off for you, or it
may be your greatest source of frustration. Most new businesses
on the Internet quickly discover that there is no magic formula
to driving website traffic higher.
If you’re looking for innovative methods of marketing your on-line
business, start thinking like an off-line marketer. The tried and
true marketing practices employed by traditional businesses
represent significant value to your on-line venture. Before
placing your next bid with a Pay-per-click engine, consider some
of these marketing initiatives:
Off-line Advertising
Yes, they still have advertising off-line, in things like
newspapers and magazines. If you have an intriguing website name
that is focused on one particular industry or profession, you have
access to highly targeted publications that will do an excellent
job of reaching your target market.
Imagine that you operate a website that sells an amazing new
product aimed at the plumbing market. You can stretch your
advertising dollars by placing ads that contain only your URL
in recognized plumbing publications. An ad that reads
www.besteverplumbinginvention.com would attract plenty of
traffic from curious plumbers and industry suppliers.
While other companies are using their ad space to explain to
plumbers why they should call them, you’ve provided a compelling
reason (curiosity) for plumbers to hit your site. Since you only
advertised the URL, you don’t require considerable space to
explain your idea, hence the cost of your ad will be very
reasonable.
Get Published
The mantra these days is to “get published” in various e-zines
and e-newsletters by writing articles from your expert point of
view and including your byline. The byline, or “resource box”
acts as an ad for your company by providing your URL and e-mail
address. Getting published is a highly effective, low cost method
of promoting your on-line business. The question is: why stop at
e-zines?
It seems everybody has forgotten the huge number of magazine and
newspaper publications available in today’s marketplace. Getting
published in print is just as effective, if not more effective,
than on-line publication.
Let’s say that you offer a business to business service through
your website. Almost every major city in the U.S. has a local
business publication that discusses local business news and
covers topics of interest to business owners. How many major
cities are there in the U.S.? An informal analysis reveals that
there are at least 50 (one for each state), plus many more….
there are 5 in California alone!
Since you are on-line, geography is not an obstacle, so get your
articles and news releases out to these publications no matter
where they are published. There’s a magazine for just about
everything these days, so whatever your area of expertise is,
you’ll find an editor who might be interested in running your
article.
Targeted Event Promotion
No matter who you are targeting, there is some type of annual
event for them held somewhere in the U.S. From dental assistants
to senior citizens to country music fans, there is a conference
or convention that attracts thousands of them.
Promote your on-line business with an advertisement in the
convention program, or better yet, distribute some promotional
materials at the show, such as pens or note pads with your URL
printed on them. If the event is out of town, don’t worry.
Contact the facility where the event is being held. They will
usually help out with this type of promotion for a small fee.
The on-line world is a tremendous place to market your products
and services. But don’t forget about the rest of the world, or
you’ll miss out on some tremendous marketing opportunities.

Take A Break - Church Repairs...
The minister and the church board called a special meeting of the
congregation to explain some desperate needs of the building that
had to be fixed before winter set in - roof, boiler, etc. "The
board approved that we should take a special offering today to get
these repairs underway right away. As they pass the plates to you,
I promise that the one who gives the greatest offering will be
allowed to pick 3 hymns for next week's service."
The plates were passed and brought to the minister, who discovered
a $1,000 bill on top. "Oh my!, how wonderful! Who gave this $1,000
bill?" A little old lady in the back shyly raised her hand. "Oh
Mabel, how generous you are! How blessed we are! Come up and let
us thank you!" When Mabel got to the front with all the applause
of the congregation, the minister invited her to select the hymns
she wanted. Mabel slowly turned around to face the congregation,
stretched out her arm and said, "I pick him! And him! And him!"
